Weather

July is winter in Brazil, with highs of 24–27°C and lows of 18–20°C. It is historically the dry season, so rain is uncommon.

Sunrise is around 6:10 a.m. and sunset at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Note: If you’re planning on joining the Sustainability Field Trip to Domingos Martins — our mountain region — keep in mind that average temperatures there range from 10°C to 24°C.

Safety

The city of Vitória is very safe. However, as with any location in South America, different social issues can arise. We do not recommend using your cell phone in the middle of the street, and we advise keeping an eye on your belongings in public spaces, especially in crowded situations (e.g., while crossing the street or using public transportation).

Always check prices and review your bill at restaurants to avoid any surprises. Remember that all prices are in Brazilian Reais.

We recommend buying bottled water. While at FAESA, the water fountains are safe to drink from. Please do not drink tap water.

All food purchased at supermarkets is safe. Street food is available in several neighborhoods, and all vendors must obtain health and safety permits to operate. We highly recommend trying this experience.

There are street fruit and vegetable fairs around the city, which are also a great experience to enjoy. Just be aware of your belongings and wash your fruits before eating them.

In Brazil, and especially in Vitória, you will find safe meat and fish to eat. Vegetarian options are also widely available, as there are many self-service and à la carte restaurants.

We wish you a safe and pleasant stay in Vitória.
