29th December 2025 – Call for abstracts and special tracks

We are pleased to invite you to submit an abstract for the 32nd Annual Conference of ISDRS, to be hosted by FAESA Centro Universitário and Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil, from July 7th to 11th, 2026.

The concept of sustainable development, introduced over three decades ago, has become integral to contemporary science, policymaking, and business practices. However, the world has undergone substantial transformations since the late 1980s. This matter necessitates a reevaluation of sustainability’s relevance in the first half of the 21st century and its implications for the future.

Followed by the 2025 ISDRS Annual Conference with the central theme ‘Sustainability and Beyond’, the 2026 ISDRS 32nd Annual Conference will focus on ‘Transforming global challenges into Sustainable Opportunities: collaborations and partnerships across the globe’. The 2026 ISDRS Conference title moves beyond analyzing crises like climate change and social disparity – issues with profound local and global implications – to actively catalyze innovation through collaboration across the world, as well as all areas and disciplines, by bringing together diverse researchers from science, policy, economics, and the humanities. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate and catalyze change. Voices from the global south will echo around the world through exchanges of innovations, culture, ways of living, behavioral patterns, ecological matters, and transboundary issues, making this conference unique and attracting stakeholders from multidisciplinary areas. By coming together from the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development and the 2025 COP 30 Conference, scientists and researchers from all over the world will be able to transform global challenges into sustainable opportunities. The central goal is to share boundary-crossing research and forge practical partnerships that can transform systemic risks into tangible, equitable opportunities for a resilient future for the world.

Call for Abstracts

Abstracts for oral or poster presentations are welcome. Please select one of the conference’s thematic tracks and learn about the objectives and expectations of your track before submitting an abstract.

Abstracts will be submitted through the Oxford Abstracts platform of the conference. It will open by early December.

After the abstract is accepted, you are encouraged to submit your full paper. Check the deadlines on the “important dates” information.

Call for Special Tracks

The conference will feature traditional ISDRS tracks, complemented by a limited number of special tracks. Proposals for special tracks should align with the conference theme, ‘Transforming global challenges into Sustainable Opportunities: collaborations and partnerships across the globe,’ and adopt an interdisciplinary approach. We encourage innovative formats to foster discussion and idea exchange rather than conventional presentations. Please, include the following information when developing a proposal for a special track:

  • Title and aims of the proposed track
  • Chair(s) of the track
  • The innovative format of the track
  • How can the track foster interdisciplinary interaction among participants of the conference?
  • How does the track address the special topic of the conference?
  • List of planned contributions to the special track (e.g., speakers, presentations, etc.)

Proposals should be prepared as PDFs and not exceed 600 words.
Chairs are responsible for inviting presenters/speakers and implementing the track.

Please contact the organizers (2026@isdrsconferences.org) if you have any questions about special track proposals.
